Progressively Increasing Lateness Syndrome
It all seemed so straightforward. Simply take the train to Voghera, a small town 50 kilometers or so from Milan, where we would be picked up by some friends, so we could spend an nice relaxing afternoon in the hills not far from the big sweaty metropolis. Oh, Go On - Send Me Press Releases
Well, why not? If you have anything to do with something Italian, or related to Italy, an event for example, then do let me know, and I’ll write a post about it. I’m especially interested in events that are a little different and original, but I’ll consider anything anyone is kind enough to send me.
At this very moment I’m cooking something up about a forthcoming event, and will be ‘going to press’ as soon as I receive a reply to an email. Indeed, it was a recent contact which sparked this little idea.
In return, but by no means feel obliged, if you think this blog helped generate some interest, then a quick mention at the event would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
Alex
Rubbish in Naples, Dioxin in Mozzarella, and now Toxic Wine
The ‘Made in Italy‘ brand is suffering something of a buffeting at the moment. The latest famous Italian product to come under the spotlight is that of wine.
Apparently unscrupulous producers of dirt cheap Italian reds have been popping a little acid into the mix. So the next time that cheap red appears to have a bit of an acidic taste to it, you know the reason why! Just joking.
Apparently there is no danger to human health, but this will be of little consolation to the many Italians who drink wine as if it were water. Even one of Italy’s most prestigious wines the famous Brunello di Montalcino has been tainted with accusations of falsification.
One wonders what will be next. Putrid pasta? Rotten risotto? Botched bread?
At this rate the poor Italians will have little to eat, or drink. And, if this pattern continues, soon they may have to give up the proud claim to having the best food in the world.
Strange to be hearing all these revelations right before the Italian general elections, is it not?
