Sleeping with the Enemy?
Italy’s two main political parties are often shortened by the media to the PD and the PDL. At times it is difficult to understand which political party is being referred to. Recently, things have become much more confusing.
At the best of times Italian politics is a confused muddled affair. Indeed, things are becoming so darned confused that the supposedly right wing likes of Umberto Bossi, the head of Italy’s radical Northern League party, plus party stalwart, and Italian minster for reform, Roberto Calderoli, participated in a rally organised in Florence by Bossi’s supposed political opponents - the PD. Doesn’t Mr Bossi lean towards Silvio Berlusconi’s bunch? Well, he still does, although after this news, one has no idea for how much longer. Or is something more sinister at work. Read more
Should Google Maps be Used for This?
For some reason, a little bird has told me that people have been hunting for a map of prostitutes working the streets of Milan.
“Does such a thing exist?”, I wondered, and hopped onto the www to find out. Well, at one point some ,presumably, Italians had managed to place such a map on Google Maps, of all places.
Google, possibly as a result of certain posts on Italian blogs, such as this on Tentativi - La Mappa delle prostitute di Milano, acted quickly and put a stop to this rather sordid exploitation of Web 2.0.
However, and as is the often the case with the www, the ‘map’ was simply moved, and still exploits Google Italy maps, even if it claims to be a form of protest now. Read more
Milan’s Ecopass is back from its Vacation
As Milan crawls slowly back to life after the summer recess, its Ecopass traffic anti-pollution charge comes back on-line.
