A New Member of the Team - Silvia Anna Barrilà
22 viewsThanks to the efforts of Gaetano Salvo, my Italy is in project which aims to help promote contemporary Italian artists, now has a valuable new member - Silvia Anna Barrilà.
As you will see from the short profile below, Silvia already has something of a journalistic pedigree, having written articles for top Italian publications such as ArtEconomy 24, which is part of the Il Sole 24 ORE group and for the major Italian news magazine Panorama.
Milan born Silvia Anna Barrilà is art historian. Currently she spends time between Milan and Berlin where she works as an art critic and organizes art events. She writes for Italian magazines and newspapers, such as ArtEconomy 24 and Panorama FIRST.
After her studies in Art History in Milan and Berlin, she specialized in Film and Video Art. Currently she is collaborating on the organization of an international prize called the FairPlay Award which is dedicated to the influence of film on the production contemporary art. Previously she worked for international festivals in Berlin such as Transmediale, Interfilm, Zoom Out and for video archives such as E-Flux Video Rental and Media-Archive in Hamburger Bahnhof.
In addition to writing articles on the artists already mentioned on Italy is in, Silvia will be contributing observations and analysis relating to the Italian and the burgeoning worldwide contemporary art markets.
Silvia will also be helping Gaetano and myself track down new artists to add to Italy is in’s ‘portfolio’, which will soon include a focus on ‘live’ contemporary art forms, such as video and film work.
It’s great to have her aboard, and we are going to do all we can to work together and grow Italy is in.
