Please Help Me find a New Look!

One of my readers, Rajab, has pointed out that this blog is becoming a bit messy. I have to agree, so I’ve been trying to find a new look. Only I can’t quite find what I’m looking for.

The people who have voted in my little poll have indicated that they prefer to see full posts, and not the snippets which so many ‘mamazine’ style blogs are erring towards.

What I’d like to do is to find a WordPress theme which does a bit of both. I’d like to show two or three full posts on the front page (with side bars), and then have six or so snippets beneath that show posts from my long list of categories (without side bars).

If anyone knows of a free or even a commercial theme that can do this, then please let me know. I have tried messing about with WordPress code, but, a) I’m not very good at this and b) I don’t really have the time to do it. However, I would like to make this blog as easy to read as I can. And I’d like to be able to show a few ads, in the hope that this blog can become self supporting financially. I sort of like the idea of creating my own on-line newspaper about Italy.

Any and all practical suggestions will be considered.

Thanks, as ever, for reading.

Alex Roe

Alex, I was going to create you a new one, but I got very busy and couldn’t find some spare time (I haven’t updated RealmadridTalk for a while now) however, I recommend you check out Brain Gardner’s WP Themes here: http://www.briangardner.com/themes or you can always do a google search

If you can afford getting a professional and unique design, I recommend my friend Nate Whitehill of Unique Blog Designs.com - you may get a good deal

    Good luck ;)

Hi Rajab - actually, I know about Brian Gardner, and this blog is based on one of his themes, and I’m using another of his themes over at another site of mine.

As for commissioning a pro-theme, thanks for the suggestion, but I’m not ready to invest in this yet. It is something I’ll think about for the future though.

And, as you may have noticed, I’ve hacked this theme a little to display category snippets.

    All the best,

    Alex

Have your say
