Of tax

Mr P’, the current boss of all that is made in Italy, is off to a good start. The country’s accounts are in a dodgy state so Mr P’s associates are making noises about necessary ‘maneuvers’ to sort the problem out.

It does not take a genius to work out that some form of tax increase is on the cards.

Can’t our lords and masters come up with some other way of filling the states coffers? It would appear not. That would require some real genius, now wouldn’t it.

I hope I am wrong, but I have my doubts. Sometimes one misses the creative accounting of Mr B. Hey ho, it’s on with life we go.

    Hi Jan,
You should, although I’m not that well up on setting up RSS stuff, be able to get a feed now.

Hopefully I have satisfied your need for a feed so you can have a read. (groan) :-)
Let me know if the thing does not do it’s stuff and I try and weed out any of the problems.

    Good deed done. (another groan)

    Alex.

Ahhh, the redistribution of wealth (ie. taxes). Most likely a tax increase is in the works but I would also look for cuts in social services if the economy weakens a bit.

As for the shrink, I would suggest a weekend in Chiavari with the family. The cost will be about the same and the results much better!

Hi David, and yes you could well be right about cuts in social services, although there don’t seem to be many social services here and Mr P leans to the left, without a strong wind, and would, I suspect, be reluctant to cut such things. He’ll probably target Mr B who might just have enough cash to pull Italy corp out of the drains!

And a weekend in Chiavari with the family does sound much better than a shrinking session, you are right!!

Our lords and masters - well, many of them - once did come up with another way of filling the state coffers; it was called building an empire, but for some reason (pillage, robbery, bleeding colonies dry, something like that) the idea went out of favour. So now we’re back to making the citizens pay to have their own countries mismanaged. TINA. (Thank you Mrs T., you are not forgotten.)

‘So now we’re back to making the citizens pay to have their own countries mismanaged.’ - very good way of putting it Tina! :-)

[...] Yes, as I predicted back in June, here, that nice Mr Prodi and his cronies have gone and decided to put up tax levels - but only if you earn over 70k Euros or are self-employed.  In addition, in view of the extra tax income, the dear government is attempting to cut education funding too.  I guess that these little measures may help Italy crawl out of its pit of national debt.
