iPhone Availability in Italy for iPhone Hunters

In this little post, I’ll try to answer that question by showing you which on line Italian stores still have an iPhone or two up for grabs. Pianeta Shop availability details updated 27th August 2008.

Are you in Italy and looking for one of those mythical iPhones? In that case you will probably want to know something about iPhone availability in Italy. I understand that more than a few people are trying to get their hands on what is fast becoming a cult item.

Either being able to speak Italian, or knowing someone who does, will be a great help if you fancy having a go at tracking down one of these, so far, illusive technological jewels. More about where to find Apple’s summer favourite follows…

Apple's Mythical iPhone

First off:

Pianeta Shop - on-line store. Pianeta Shop is about the only place in Italy showing any kind of real availability at present.

Pianeta Shop iPhone availability, as at 27th August 2008:

7 units - Apple Iphone 3G 8 GB Black and White, at a price of 489.00 Euros.

8 units - Apple Iphone 3G 16 GB Black and White, at a price of 529.00 Euros.

These are iPhones without any contract, but you may wish to ensure whether they are Italian market models, even if, being 3G phones, they should have no problem working in Italy or most of the rest of Europe.

Delivery is around 10 days.

Vodafone Italy

iPhone availability is not that clear from the Vodafone website, even if they do say there is availability on the site, and Vodafone is offering free delivery throughout Italy, but only to those paying on-line with an Italian Visa/Mastercard/American Express/Aura credit card or pre-charged postepay card. Paypal is also an accepted form of payment too.

A list of outlets stocking the Vodafone Italy version of the iPhone is available in this .pdf document, although, whether these places actually have any iPhones is anybody’s guess.

TIM - Telecom Italia Mobile

The iPhone is shown on the site, but availability is shown as zero at present.

That’s about it as regards iPhone availability in sunny Italy at the moment alas. iPhone availability will probably pick up after the summer, probably towards the end of September after everyone has sorted out the summer backlog of things to do at work.

Now seeing as I’m helping Apple sell these beasts, maybe they’ll send me a complimentary model for review, and that I can then pass on to my other half who is pining for an iPhone. Oh well, hope springs eternal!

You are not helping me, Alex. I just keep seeing this fantastic thing everyday in the stores around my apartment, I can no longer resist it, but I have to pay for school first!!

Hi Alex, from personal experience I know that Vodafone’s online shop have the 8GB version the difficulty has been the white 16GB version which seem to be quite rare to find. Most shops won’t sell iPhones unless through a contract, there are a lot of complaints about this because in the long run you’ll be paying more for a contract than outright…(that’s obviously why) crafty italians as per usual
