Intense heat in Milan
2 viewsThe heat here is intense. It is boiling hot and the sun is unrelenting as it lasers down from a cloudless sky, indeed any clouds that have the temerity to attempt to form in the sky above are quickly and unceremoniously disintegrated by the suns scalding rays. It’s almost as if the sun is saying ‘I rule, OK?’, such is its power here during July and August. And do you know what? It does.
These are months during which Italians avoid venturing outdoors between 10am and 5pm, unless absolutely necessary, or they are heading off to sunbathe and cool themselves down in the local open air pools. Even wandering out in the relative cool of the evenings can be traumatic. The mozzies are having a field day, as is normal at this time of year, and the slightly offensive aroma of mozzy repellent has taken over from the heady aromas of Dior and Versace’s exotic perfumes.
Yes, summer is well and truly here in Milan.

Have your say

Belgium’s so special … so close and yet so grey, wet and sometimes cold. Maybe I’m grateful, I’m still thinking on that one.
Now, Di, this may come as something of a surprise, but when I jumped the UK ship, Belgium was not on my list of the top ten countries that I wanted to check out

On the other hand, I think I could quite easily fall in love with New Zealand
All the best,
Alex
