    As the earthquake disappears from th news, I am thinking it is good to do a gentle reminder. We’ve bene sending good thoughts and prayers to Italy but the $$$ stuff is still needed. Thanks for posting this.

      Hi Claudia,

      I hope this post does have an effect. Now it seems as though the worst is over, the real work needs to start – and people need to begin rebuilding their lives after this tragedy.

      I’ve asked the GlobalGiving charity for updates, and I’m going to sign up for their newsletter too.

      I’ll post when there is some news.

Francesco Cossiga Understood Italy

For those who did not know, Francesco Cossiga, who died the other day, was an Italian politician and one time President of Italy. Cossiga hailed from Sardinia, was a fan of John Le Carre and had earned himself the nickname “the pickaxe” owing to his no holds barred criticism of other Italian politicians.

Abruzzo – Castles and Controversy

Onna in Abruzzo was one of the many places virtually raised to the ground by the earthquake which hit the Italian region of Abruzzo back in April of this year. Yesterday, and to much fanfare, ninety four new dwellings were handed over to around 300 people who lost their homes in the earthquake.
