Guess Where in Italy? – Part 9

January 29, 2010 Travel 22 Comments

After a break, the Guess Where in Italy? series is back!  To kick things off, here is one of my own photographs of Italy

Have you any idea whereabouts in Italy I took this picture?

I suspect that only those who have spent some time wondering around this charming Italian city will recognize it and know what it is called, and be able to say where it is in Italy.  It’s a lovely city too -well worth visiting.

On to the photograph.

Can You Guess in Which Italian City this Photograph was Taken?

Can You Guess Which Italian City this is?

Can You Guess Which Italian City this is?

This is just for fun.

If nobody has managed to guess the answer by Monday, I’ll post clues until somebody gets the answer.

ANSWER: As guessed correctly by super guesser Nora, the Italian city shown in the photograph above is Mantua.  I liked Mantua, and would say that it is a place which is well worth visiting.

I can’t wait to find out, it’s very pretty! I’m guessing northern Italy. My husband and I just moved to the Naples area two weeks ago and we’re looking to travel to some “hidden gems”. Love the blog!

  6. Humm…. fun game! My guess is Bologna. I look forward to finding out the answer! :-)

  7. Alex Roe says:

Ciao Laura -thanks for having a go, but it’s not Bologna.

  8. Nora says:

    Hi Alex,

It’s nice that you are using one of your own lovely photos for this quiz. It makes it even more fun! I’ve been here and after searching through some of my photos I now know that your picture is of the canal in the beautiful city of Mantua (Mantova) in Lombardy. Did you visit the Palazzo Te there? The frescoes inside are magnificent and unforgettable.

    Best wishes,
    Nora

Good to hear from you, and, as is often the case, you are 100% right! Well done:)

Your ability to recognize out of the way corners of Italy is phenomenal!

      Best,

      Alex

18 Aug 2010

For those who did not know, Francesco Cossiga, who died the other day, was an Italian politician and one time President of Italy. Kotipizza Berlusconi

From spat to full-blown split. Silvio Berlusconi’s marriage of political convenience to Gianfranco Fini has ended in tears. Scorned lover Berlusconi even rejected Fini’s last minute attempts to kiss and make up and remain part of Berlusconi’s party of love. End of love in. Period.

Big Bugs Cast Shadows Over Italy

There are some mighty big bugs in Italy. Some of the wasps I’ve seen are huge, and scary. Luckily, for those of you who are like me, not the world’s greatest bug fans, these miniature giants of the Italian bug world are not often to be spotted.

Italy, One, P2, P3

Strange days in Italy. Whilst digging into illicit goings on surrounding the awarding of contracts for wind farms in Sardinia, Italy’s carabinieri police appear to have uncovered the insidious sequel to a mysterious illegal masonic group known as Propaganda 2, or P2 for short. Italy’s press have wasted no time in labelling the sequel, Propaganda 3. Or P3 for short.

It’s hot here. Summer was a little late in coming this year, but it’s well and truly here now. I’m keeping busy, which is good, but I’m finding less time to blog about Italy, which is not so good. Here’s a little of what his happening in Italy at the moment.

Photographs of Monterosso, Le Cinque Terre, Italy

At the start of June, I spent a long weekend in the company of friends and my family down in the stunningly beautiful Cinque Terre area of the Liguria coast in northern Italy. I took a few photographs of Monterosso, one of the Cinque Terre, while the rest of the group lounged around on the beach.
