Guess Where in Italy? – Part 8

October 28, 2009 by Alex Roe · 10 Comments · Filed under: travel

Here’s another one in Blog from Italy’s Guess Where in Italy? series.

As you will see from the photograph, it’s one colourful place this week.  Might resurrect a few happy holiday memories, which is no bad thing seeing as winter is fast approaching.

It sure is one pretty place too.

Can you guess where it is in Italy, and the name of the town shown?  Italians can feel free to have a go too – as long as they are not from the area!  But – I’d like to see how well non-Italian know the delights Italy has to offer, so, if my Italian readers can restrain themselves – many thanks.

Read on for the postcard photo.  And the answer.

Can You Guess Where this Glorious Seaside Town Can Be Found in Italy?

Can you Guess the Location and the Name of the Town in Italy?

Can you Guess the Location and the Name of the Town in Italy? - It's Procida.

As reader Kris rightly guessed, this is a photograph of the Island of Procida.  Procida sites between the Italian mainland and Ischia, and both islands sit off the coast of Naples in southern Italy.

The photograph above was taken by JJKDC and more examples of JJKDC’s work, which include lots of photos of Italy, can be found here: JJKDC on Flickr.

There was no prize – as this was just for fun.

I have to say that I would not mind living in this place at all.

Well done Kris, and here’s to next year’s summer!  Cheers.

    Alex,
That is one fabulous shot of a fantastic place.
I am stumped, I think it is around the Cinque Terre( the only spot on the Liguraian side I visited) but I am not sure which town.

  2. Candi says:

Okay, I can’t get the colorful photo of my head. I think it is one of the islands around Naples. My initial hunt was Northern Italy, but now I am thinking it is Southern Italy. In fact, it has to be an island in Southern Italy. I can’t wait to know the answer, whatever it is, I am adding to my list for my next trip to Italy–hopefully this coming May:)

      Hi Candi,

You are on the right lines thinking about Naples, islands and southern Italy. And yes, it’s a very pretty place!

Hope you do manage to come to Italy and visit this place in the flesh, so to speak.

      Thanks for trying.

      Best,

      Alex

  3. Kris says:

Thank you, Alex – you’re big hint helped quite a bit…it’s the island of Procida! It looks like such a lovely place, I’ll definitely have to make the trip there one day.

    • Alex Roe says:

      Well done Kris!

You’ve got the name of the pretty island – it is Procida, the island off Naples.

      Round of applause for you!

Can anyone say what this area of Procida is called?

Procida is definitely worth a trip -as are Ischia and Capri (I’ve been to Capri – lovely place).

      Best,

      Alex

      • Candi says:

I wouldn’t know the name of the area. But yes, I think I am adding it to my itinerary for next trip. I’ve also been to Capri and LOVED it!

  4. Jeff says:

Thanks for using one of my photos, Alex. I’m flattered!

I just got back from my sixth trip to Italy, and my third to Naples. I didn’t get back to Procida, but I did go to Ischia for the first time. The Aragonese Castle there is an awesome structure. Still busy sorting through and uploading my pics. I’ll be sure to submit some to your Flickr group, and feel free to use any on your blog at any time.

    • Alex Roe says:

Thank you for letting me use your Procida image, Jeff :-)

You are quite an Italy fan by the looks of things. What did you make of Procida?

I’ve been to Capri, but not Ischia or Procida – they both look great though.

I don’t know much about the Aragonese Castle – but I’ll inform myself. Thanks for that.

Here’s to your next trip to Italy, and more photos.

      Best,

      Alex

      • Jeff says:

Procida was a very quiet, sleepy sort of place. It was a day trip from Naples, and thus a stark contrast. There doesn’t appear to be much to do on Procida (other than eat and enjoy the view), but if someone wants a lovely place to go and relax in Italy where few other tourists go, Procida could be just the ticket. -jeff
