Desperately seeking sausages!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find 100 good quality vacuum-packed Cumberland sausages and export them asap to the 4-4-2 pub here in Milan, Italy. This blog post will self-destruct within 15 seconds.

Yep, finding English sausages has poor Alessandro down at the 4-4-2 pub banging his head against a brick wall. The search for these elusive sausages really is proving a ‘mission impossible’. So, if any of my English readers out there know where to get vacuum packed Cumberland bangers and can DHL, TNT, UPS or FedEx them over to Milan in Italy, Alessandro, and I, will be eternally grateful and all expenses will be paid.  If the sausages prove to be a success, then this could well turn into a fixed weekly order for 100 or so of these things. Sorry to bang on about this, but one would not imagine that in the 21st century getting something as banal as British bangers over to Italy could be so darned difficult. This is an SOS - Save Our Sausages!

Having just come back from Rome, and realising your need for a decent breakfast is well past a joke, I have rung three UK companys so far to see if they send out… all say no, mostly due to ‘foot and mouth’ restrictions, but some claiming due to ‘freshness’.

    Hi Liz,

If you were/are on Facebook, I would/will send you a big kiss!

Many, many thanks for having had a go -very kind of you:)

I guessed that the foot and mouth thing might cause problems - in fact I was wondering whether I could pin down some sausages in Gibraltar or even Cyprus. Failing that, I was thinking about getting hold of a sausage machine and making the things! Not that I have ever made a sausage in my life.

Could you, would you, be ever so kind as to phone this company: broadstripebutchers.co.uk

They appear to do vacuum packed bangers, which would be ideal, but I can’t seem to get the 0800 number to work from Italy:(

Again, many thanks for your attempts to realise my need for a decent breakfast!

    Kindest regards,

    Alex

Many, many thanks to you too Claire, you sausage sourcer you!

Banging on about bangers may mean that the Save Our Sausages appeal will sizzle its way to success…

Very kind regards and thanks to both of you:-)

Christian will tell you newmarket sausages are the best. Source them, and arrange delivery!! If the italians can send sausages here we should be able to return the favor

    Hi Sue,

Someone else who knows Chris! Small world ;-)

I saw Chris down at the 442 tonight, but he did not mention Newmarket bangers. If I see him tomorrow, I mention this to him.

With regard to getting sausages to Italy, it seems as though the foot and mouth thing is really getting in the way of something as simple as exporting a few of the things.

But, we have not given up hope, and shall be trying other avenues…

Thanks for dropping in and the advice,

    All the best,

    Alex
