Cefalu

I dug this little video up on You Tube, and yes, I am thinking about holidays. By the way, if you did not know, Cefalu is down in Montalbano country, otherwise know as sunny Sicily.
My, it looks as though it is a quiet little spot.
And here is another, longer video tour of Cefalu, with titles, so you know what you are looking at. No narration this time, only some soothing music.

dumb question:
is it still ‘unsafe’ to travel around southern italy (i’m thinking in terms of the stereotypical view …) ?
or, better question, is it still quite unsafe for solo travellers? ok, even more specific, solo non-caucasian travellers (i.e. me!)
what do you think?
Hi Jan,
Not a dumb question at all.
In answer, I wanted to speak to someone I know who is from Palermo and ask him about this, but I did not see him today.
Once I’ve seen him, next week I hope, I’ll let you know.
However, I think you would be OK, but it very much depends on where you go, how you dress, and how streetwise you are.
Personally, I think young female travellers are more at risk than their male counterparts, even though I don’t believe that the risk level is all that high, especially if you stay near touristy areas and do not venture too far off the beaten track.
But if anyone wants to contradict me on this, feel free.
All the best,
Alex
Hmmmmmm well I’m pretty street smart (cross fingers!), but I’m tiny, so I have encountered … encounters that I’d rather avoid …
Ok awaiting your answer
