Chianti Sculpture ParkMy writings on Gianpietro Carlesso caused me to ‘come up in conversation’ the other day while Chris Bright was chatting fellow American and Milan based Sean Carlos, and, as a result of Sean’s recent email, I’ve been darting around the web looking at sculpture related things. There is some interesting stuff out there, and some future posts will be dedicated to them, and, in turn, I hope, help the lives of struggling artists become, well, less of a struggle. High hopes indeed, I know.

Gianpietro Carlesso, the Italian sculptor for whom I have translated one or two pieces, went to London back in November last year and I’m very happy to report that one of his works was sold at auction, and, hopefully, the sale has managed to raise his profile on the international stage.

Levanto certainly looks charming from a distance, although we only passed through it, so I don’t know if it lives up to its promise.  This is not a fresh from the camera shot.  I have had to tweak it a little bit to get some more details to show up.  Anyway,  here is a Levanto by night:

If you have ever been over here, you may have noticed how many shops have metal shutters which are lowered when the shop is closed. These here shutters, often grey, tend to give the town something of an abandoned look. I am not the only one to have noticed this. Some enterprising, possibly ex-graffiti, artists have been brightening things up. I’ve been meaning to post a few photos and so here they are:
