Moby Soundtrack for Gianpietro Carlesso YouTube Presentation

April 9, 2008 Art 2 Comments

Mobygratis, Moby‘s free music service dropped me an email today in response to my request to use a Moby track to accompany my short You Tube presentation of Gianpietro Carlesso’s sculptures.

I am very pleased to announce that Moby has kindly given his permission for me to use the track I selected. I’m really excited about this news.

Now I just have to wait until the track downloads, which is taking an age because of a slow connection, and I can only download the track once. And I’ll have to leave my PC running, because I have to go out shortly.

If all goes well, and I have the time, I shall add the soundtrack to the presentation this evening.

Thanks Moby!

Let Chianti Sculpture Park re-capture that holiday mood

Chianti Sculpture ParkMy writings on Gianpietro Carlesso caused me to ‘come up in conversation’ the other day while Chris Bright was chatting fellow American and Milan based Sean Carlos, and, as a result of Sean’s recent email, I’ve been darting around the web looking at sculpture related things. There is some interesting stuff out there, and some future posts will be dedicated to them, and, in turn, I hope, help the lives of struggling artists become, well, less of a struggle. High hopes indeed, I know.

I met Italian Scupltor Gianpietro Carlesso!

March 29, 2008 Art No Comments

Yes, finally, I got to meet Gianpietro Carlesso and some of his friends including Max, and the guy who is helping Gianpietro promote is eminently promotable work, Carlo.

It was the first time I’d ever met a real life sculptor, but the experience was painless, I’m pleased to report. Gianpietro is a very interesting person, and a thoroughly decent chap to boot.

I chatted with him about his work and how he comes up with his ideas, which was fascinating. He is very well read and absorbs topics as diverse as particle physics, I think it was (the wine got to my head). And he finds energy intriguing, and this is something he attempts to represent in his work.

Gianpietro gave me a whole bundle of past catalogues, from which I noted just how much his work has evolved over time. Suffice it to say that the variety of pieces he produces is extensive. It’s no wonder that he has quite a number of fans. The more I see what he is capable of, the more I like his work.

I have to say that I am extremely happy to have met, face to face, the man behind the creativity, I can tell you.

More about the intriguing Mr Carlesso will be coming soon, I assure you. And a major international magazine is about to release an article about the man and his work. I’d love to tell you which publication, but it would not be good natured of me.

Here is an example of his more recent work ‘Struttura‘, click on the image too see a larger version.

A Little Something I cooked Up

A short slide presentation of Gianpietro Carlesso’s work. No soundtrack yet though – have not found the right track. I have applied for permission to use a Moby track, but I don’t know if it will be granted. Only 40 seconds long. See what you think:

Here is another of Gianpietro Carlesso’s recent works, ‘Struttura’ (Click on the centre of the image to see a larger version).

Again, an interesting sculpture, and an example of the variety of which Carlesso is capable.

I guess you could say this is a sort of ‘skeleton’, a body devoid of its flesh, thus representing pure crude reality.

Oops! I’m starting to sound like an art critic. Oh how one evolves.

Gianpietro Carlesso – Risonanza

As promised, here is another one of Gianpietro Carlesso’s more recent creations.

I like this one too!  Gianpietro produces stunning visual sculptures, and he’s capable of working with quite a variety of materials too.  Not only, but I know for a fact that he puts a lot of time into thinking what he’s going the grace the world with next.

Francesco Cossiga Understood Italy

18 Aug 2010

For those who did not know, Francesco Cossiga, who died the other day, was an Italian politician and one time President of Italy. Cossiga hailed from Sardinia, was a fan of John Le Carre and had earned himself the nickname “the pickaxe” owing to his no holds barred criticism of other Italian politicians.

Berlusconi v Fini – Slinging Old Mud

12 Aug 2010

As you may be aware, the generally tumultus world of Italian politics is in turmoil. The Berlusconi government is teetering on the brink of collapse, but what is really surprising, is that this collapse was sparked from the inside.

Berlusconi Divorces Fini

30 Jul 2010

Kotipizza Berlusconi

From spat to full-blown split. Silvio Berlusconi’s marriage of political convenience to Gianfranco Fini has ended in tears. Scorned lover Berlusconi even rejected Fini’s last minute attempts to kiss and make up and remain part of Berlusconi’s party of love. End of love in. Period.
