Adam, the SEO Gladiator from Lybia

May 12, 2008 Blogging 8 Comments

Adam Bader, one of my readers, and an SEO Gladiator from north Africa, is coming to Italy to study Italian this summer.

I’ve been exchanging the odd email with Adam, and I complimented him on his English, but he disagrees. Indeed, this is how he disagreed:

My written English is good? Heck no, I think it sucks! But thanks anyway, I’m gung-ho about languages

Now, I don’t know about you, but I think that for someone who says he does not know English, the above response was absolutely excellent.

It’s grammatically accurate, colloquial, and, there is even a nice little idiom thrown in for good measure.

Maybe I should point out that he is studying French, Arabic, and English at university. He must be making good progress.

I would be interested to hear what his spoken English is like, but, in today’s email oriented world, being able to write well in a language or two is a very useful skill to have.

Adam appears to have a bright future ahead of him. Hope he’s on Linked-In.

Alex, I’m needing some serious SEO help for Volette, so I’d appreciate the chance to meet with all your SEO friends next time I’m in Milan (which will probably be 1st week in June)… What I need is “key words” such as the various cities and countries, and topics, that Volette posts have covered.

Do you do this with your blog?

  2. First off, thanks so much for writing about me, Alex ;)

I have been studying English for seven years, and believe it or not, it is better than my Arabic which is considered to be my mother tongue. I don’t know the real reason, but I think it is because I like it more and I use it all of the time.

My day is like this: wake up (shower, breakfast…etc) — go to college (I only talk to a few friends and in English – classes are in English too but you know what, bad English) –> back home having launch —> working for my dad in his store (sitting on the computer surfing the web, blogging listening to music..etc) —> and when I come back home at night, TV is my buddy and I only watch English shows, movies…etc.

I have been like this for about 8 years with really affected my health, social life and forced me to have an unhealthy life-style. I wear glasses, a bit over-weight and other problems. – I know I need to have a better life, but that would be possible If I’m out of here;)

Once again, thanks for mentioning me.

P.S: hope what I’ve just written above make sense;)

  3. @Joe,
I’m willing to help you. Just drop me an e-mail ;)

    @Joe,

Next time you are in Milan, I should be able to introduce you to Sean the SEO expert,if you wish.

As for SEO on this blog – yes I do do some. I’ll let you know via email what I do.

    Rajab,

You are welcome! I’d also like to know how you managed to learn English so well. Aside from the fact that you study, and you have encouraging parents, you must have had a few good English teachers. Would you care to mention the names of the good English teachers you have had? I’d love to know – I’m not so keen on knowing English language schools as to know the names of the actual teachers.

I do hope you find the better life you are looking for. And try to find some time to take a few breaks. A hobby like photography is a great way to get yourself out and about, and even meet new people too!

All the best to each of you,

    Alex

  5. Alex, the majority of people here believe that English is not essential and one shouldn’t care to learn it which is a very very wrong conception. Thus, in schools, we don’t have good teachers (and they are all Arabs).

However, I have to say that there are amazing teachers who have studied in the UK and in the US and most of them are living abroad, but there are also a few who are staying here for one reason which is that they already have families and can’t afford living somewhere else.

As I said, I have been studying English for seven years and during that period I’ve never had a teacher who I thought was a quality one. I mean there have been good ones, but not so good to the extent they dramatically improve your English because they have to work on theirs first.

If I had to pick a superb teacher, then it would be SALEH SASI – a very down-to-earth English language teacher who studied in the US. He really knows what he is talking about.

btw Alex, is the education in Itally really for free?

Hi Rajab, better yet I will see you when I’m in Milan in June!

  7. Luqman says:

  8. Great Great! and I hope this new year brings you wonderful happy moments. I am often traveling down to Italy, because the coach company i am working is often transporting customers with coach hire, minibus hire, limo hire services, if sometime I am there, I will sit with you :D , coffee!!!!
