Dieting, again.
One of the negative aspects of our Tuscan experience was the extra kilos all the food and wine added to my already somewhat corpulent form. So, diet time. It’s working, around 5 kilos have melted away so far, but I’m still no lightweight.
Typical diet day:
Breakfast: Bowl of cereal with milk and sugar, and a mug of Nescafè, with milk and sugar.
Lunch: Pasta with vegetable ragu, parmesan cheese, followed by yoghurt, and another Nescafè.
Evening: Bowl of vegetable soup, yoghurt and, yep, another Nescafè.
Snacks: Dry rice-based crackers.
Other things: Far too many café lungos.
Boring, but effective. And if I eat anything more in the evenings, I get fatter. Punto e basta.
Dieting is not so much about following a diet, it is more about changing your diet - forever. At least I reckon so.
An admission re Grillo
It may surprise you to know that I stopped reading Beppe Grillo’s blog for some time. Indeed, I have only recently started reading it again. Why did I stop? Sadly, the reason was that reading his blog depressed me and made me feel rather bad about Italy. However, V-Day has served to make me realise that what Grillo rattles on about, is, on the whole an accurate portrayal of just how static Italy has become. And the support and attention his V-Day commanded would seem to indicate that the man is not alone in his opinion that Italy needs a shake up.
Some Italians, including the writer of Italy is falling, do not agree with Grillo’s challenge to the establishment. In fact, Corpodibacco, the author of Italy is falling and myself are having a little discussion about the Grillo effect under this post.
It is interesting to hear from someone who is not a Grillite, or Grilloista, or whatever, and, far from being a supporter of the current regime, Corpodibacco is not a huge fan of the current bunch hanging around in the Italian parliament at the moment either. Indeed, the title of Corpodibacco’s blog indicates quite clearly what this Italian blogger thinks about the state of his country.
I hope our little discussion will continue - it has been fascinating.
