Le Vibrazioni

September 9, 2007 · Filed Under Italian music · 6 Comments

While on the subject of music, here is an Italian band that I rate quite highly too. They are called ‘Le Vibrazioni’ and I think they are still around. I guess you could say they are an Italian version of Oasis, although please feel free to disagree with me about this. Anyway, you can hear them and see one of their vids, ‘Dedicato a Te’ courtesy of YouTube: YouTube Preview Image

Neffa - La mia signorina

September 9, 2007 · Filed Under Italian music · Comment

Neffa is an Italian band, that I quite like. This was one of their hits - ‘La Mia Signorina’. The video is quite good fun too - seems a bit jerky though, but that could just be my web connection:

Luciano Pavarotti

September 9, 2007 · Filed Under Italians · Comment

As you might imagine, Pavarotti’s sad demise was all over the news, and even though his funeral was not a state affair, it was televised so it might as well have been.   The man was a superstar in Italy, and all round the world.  A real opera star, in every sense.

Now, I’m not a great opera fan, but Pavarotti did quite a lot for this form of music.  While purists may grumble that he popularised opera, I hope others might say that he made opera a little more accessible to a wider audience.  That’s a good thing to do in my humble opinion, especially in this rather too materialistic old world.

Here is a Youtube vid of the man in action: YouTube Preview Image

Even I have to admit that his voice was both powerful and supercharged with emotion.

Bye Mr Pavarotti.
