Genova by night

May 4, 2007 · Filed Under Digital photography · 7 Comments

This is a shot I took from a friend’s appartment down in Genova at 11 at night. For the technically minded: F5.0, 20 sec. exposure and ISO 200. Canon eos 400d, Tamron 28-75 F2.8 lens. Converted from RAW, with no tinkering, although the blown areas could be dealt with, but what the heck, I like the result:

Genova Street by night

I do.

Slight blog mods

May 4, 2007 · Filed Under This blog · Comment

I’ve added a link to my Flickr photo stream, seeing as this seems to be a trendy thing to do. Not may photos there yet, but watch this space.

Anyway, being a trendy kind of guy. Not. I’ve added a tag cloud to my blog, well, Wordpress kindly provided me with the appropriate widget and I went for it.

I also found a site on the WWW that thinks that this blog is possibly not run from the UK. Possibly not!! Why would I call it ‘Blog from Italy’ if I were lounging in Luton.?  Would not make much sense. So, just to clarify things a wee bit, let me say that I’m in Italy and I write this blog from Italy. Just in case the title of this blog does not make that too clear.

My other half likes Windows Vista

May 4, 2007 · Filed Under Technology and Gadgets · Comment

Well, Mr Gates may be pleased to know that his latest creation, Vista, has at least one fan here in Italy.  My other half got a new PC at work, after the previous anonymous grey box kept crashing.  Anyway, she likes the way Vista, remembers the functions you use most often and only presents you with, large, icons relating to the things you do the most.  She has only had the system for a week and so far has not had problems with drivers and program incompatibility.  I don’t know the specifications of her work PC, so I can’t understand whether the accpetable performace is down to the PC having a massive ammount of RAM.

I will just add that she was really impressed with the aesthetic aspects of Vista.  ‘Very good’, she said,  ‘Looks just like a MAC’.  I shall say no more.
