When no news can be bad news
If you have read this blog before, you may remember something about my son’s ’swollen eye’ problem. Well, we are living in a state of minor paranoia at the moment. Why? You may well ask. The reason for our worries is that the sophisticated CAT scan which the little one underwent has revealed nothing untoward. No malformation, no blocked tubes or congested canals. Zero, zilch.
That’s good news surely, you may think, and I would agree on the face of it. However the eye problem is still with us and every day when we think that his little eye is a bit red or when we think that the problem eye seems to be less open than the other, we get worried. But we don’t know what the cause is. He is normal. But hang on a second, normal people do not have eyes which swell up at the drop of a hat. There must be a cause. Boy, this is frustrating.
We’ve got another appointment to see the specialist next week and she will have look at the scan results. In some respects I hope she sees something that is not quite as it should be so at least we will know and so maybe we can do something about it. Or at the very least understand the cause.
My other half is worried. She has been making noises about moving back to her home town Genova, so the little one can wake up to cleaner seaside air. This is a surprise because she loves Milan and does not like Genova too much.
Well, they do say children change your life. They, whoever ‘they’ were, weren’t kidding. Not even a little.
